The Lil Devs Summer Clinic is a clinic directed by the Burlington high school varsity lacrosse coaching staff. It is designed to provide kids with a week-long summer clinic which will focus on improving their lacrosse skills, IQ and most importantly having fun playing lacrosse! The clinic will feature current BHS Lacrosse players and former, now DI college players as the counselors. Over the past few seasons the BHS Coaching staff has made it a focal point in order to build a positive culture that stems down from the high school program directly to the youth program. This, in turn, will encourage players to pick up and stick with lacrosse throughout their high school career and continue to build our proud winning culture. In our Inaugural year (2021) we had over 60 players sign up for our clinic and we are hoping to see that number grow this year! Join us for a week full of lacrosse fun!

Clinic members will be coached by the former BHS lax collegiate players, current BHS Players and the Varsity Coaching Staff. BHS has had numerous Middlesex league all-stars who have gone on to college careers over the past 10 years who are not only role models on the field but also off the field for the young campers to look up to.

• Any Boy entering 1st – 9th grade 
• All skill levels (beginner – advanced players)
• Clinics are NOT exclusive to Burlington residents only; other residents are welcomed and encouraged to sign up!

BYLA Families, our Uniform Store is now open until January 21st. We are using the same uniform as last year so you only need to order a uniform if you are a new player, borrowed a loaner uniform last year (#'s 70-80), or need a replacement. Please try on your existing uniforms now to ensure they still fit. BYLA will be assigning numbers to new players. When ordering a uniform you can enter your number from last year or leave the number field empty. BYLA will provide the correct values to lax.com before they are finalized for printing. We are also adding numbers to player profiles in the Demosphere app listed on the team members page. These uniforms are for Classic League players in grades 1-8 and Boys Select League. LTP Scoops players do not need uniforms. The RedHawks Girls Select League teams use different uniforms. 

We will have an optional Uniform Sizing Night on Thursday, Jan 11th at the Marshall Simmonds Middle School Cafe from 6:30pm - 7:30pm. We will have uniform samples available for trying on. We recommend boys bring shoulder pads to try on with. Girls should consider wearing additional layers under uniforms the first few weeks of our season due to weather. We do recommend sizing up as these uniforms tend to run smaller than expected and we encourage players to keep the same uniform for several years. Sizing charts are also available with the products in the store.

Turf Field Rules

To preserve the quality of the turf and track and provide a clean environment for our players the following rules apply. All parents, players, coaches and officials using the Burlington MSMS and High School turf field are guests and should treat the facilities with great care and respect.

• No cleats on the track. Please use the mat when crossing the track.
• No chairs on the turf or track.
• No Food. Including gum, seeds or nuts allowed on turf field or track.
• No sports drinks on the turf field. Water only.
• No glass containers of any kind on the turf field.
• No spitting on the turf field.
• No dogs or pets of any kind on the turf field.
• No smoking anywhere near the field, track or stadium. Smoking is not permitted on any Burlington School property.
• Only players, coaches, officials and BYLA staff are allowed onto the field or track.
• All spectators must be on the parking lot side in the stands or grass for MSMS or home side bleaches for BHS.
• All teams and spectators should cleanup after games. Trash and empty bottles should never be left behind.
• No dragging items such as coolers and nets across the turf field or track.
• Alcoholic beverages are not to be consumed on Town Property.

BYLA is excited to announce a partnership with Scoops Lacrosse to power our spring Learn To Play (LTP) program this year. Scoops Lacrosse Spring clinics are a great opportunity to introduce kids to the game of lacrosse as well as have them continue their development. Scoops clinics are designed to ensure the game of lacrosse is learned the right way, the fun way. At Scoops, the goal is simple, to help kids to be better players, teammates, and individuals on and off the field. The secret, have fun while learning the fundamentals. Like tons and tons of fun.

The BYLA 2023 Spring LTP Program is scheduled to start on April 29th and will be held at 10:30am each Saturday at MSMS Field through mid June.

Burlington Youth Lacrosse Association is proud to introduce our new Boys Select L5/6 coaches Nevin Kriger and Dakota Ikier. Both coaches are originally from Burlington and have DI and DII college lacrosse experience. We are confident Coach Kriger and Coach Ilkier will provide a great experience to our L56 Select team!

In years past, the L56 select team has been coached by Ryan Doherty "Dots." Due to a new role on the high school staff, he will no longer be able to fully commit to coaching the L56 Select Team.  Coach Dots will help BYLA as Boys Select Team Director.  We'd like to thank Coach Dots for all his efforts and countless hours as a youth coach these past few years.  

 

Nevin Kriger:  About Me -  I started playing lacrosse through the Burlington youth lacrosse program when I was seven.  I was a member of the classic and select teams in the BYLA program.  I played my club ball for HGR from 7-12th grade.  I attended Burlington High '17, where I was a four-year varsity player, three-year varsity starter, two-time Middlesex league all-star, and a team captain my senior year.  After BHS, I attended Franklin Pierce University to play DII lacrosse as a starting freshman midfielder.  After my freshman year at FPU, I transferred to the University of Vermont, where I played fall ball with the DI program before deciding to put my playing days behind me and focus on my studies.  I am now a personal trainer and nutrition coach for high-level high school/collegiate athletes and general health populations.

 

 

Dakota Ikier: About me - Like Nevin, I, too, began my lacrosse career in the Burlington youth program.  I was a member of both the classic and select teams and played club lacrosse at HGR.  I attended Burlington High '17, where I was a four-year varsity player, three-year varsity starter, Middlesex league all-star, and a team captain my senior year.  After graduation, I attended Franklin Pierce to play DII lacrosse as a defenseman.  I chose to stay at FPU and played lacrosse for all four years.

The pre-season practice schedules have been added to the team pages and are viewable in the Demosphere App or when navigating to Teams / My Teams on burlingtonlax.com. We highly recommend downloading the Demosphere app on your phone to access your team info, calendar, coaches, and messages to communicate with your coaches and teammates.

Pre-season practices will be held on five consecutive Saturdays, March 4 – April 1. 

• Grades 1-2 pre-season practices will be Saturday mornings inside the MSMS Gym. 
• Grades 3-8 pre-season practices will be Saturdays at Tyngsboro Sports Center (500 Potash Hill Road).
• Our Kindergarten LTP program does not have a pre-season and is scheduled to start April 29th. 

As a reminder, pre-season practices are played in full equipment. We have attached the equipment checklist as a reminder. In addition, Mass Youth Lacrosse teams are eligible for a 20% discount at Dick’s Sporting Goods the weekend of March 3. The coupon can be found here. Lacrosse Unlimited in Burlington also provides youth starter set bundles and equipment. Their starter set flyer is also attached.  

We are waiting for the Burlington Rec Department to confirm our field assignments. Once we receive that information, we will send out the final outdoor practice schedule.  

Our first games will be held Sunday, April 2. The final game schedule will be uploaded to the team pages in the coming weeks.

As promised, the BYLA Online Uniform Store is now open. We are aiming to get a jump on the season; all orders must be submitted by this Sunday, January 22, at 11:59 pm.

 

As a reminder:

• All players in grades 1 - 8 must purchase a uniform this season.
• The reversible top and the shorts are required.
• Boys: The shooter shirt is optional.   
• Returning Players: Please enter your jersey number from last year when ordering.
• New players: You may request a number; however, we cannot guarantee this number will be assigned to you.  
• BYLA will review all jersey numbers before the uniforms go into production and make any changes to avoid duplicates. 
• All sales are final. There will not be an opportunity for reorders or replacements this season. Triple-check that you entered the correct size and spelled the last name on the jersey correctly!
• As with most online vendors, each order is subject to a processing fee and shipping fee. Please feel free to combine orders with friends, family, and teammates to reduce the shipping fee.

UPDATE: Uniform Sizing Night has been rescheduled to Tuesday, Jan 17th.

We are excited to announce that we are partnering with a new uniform vendor, Lax.com. This new partnership will provide us with more selection, faster turnaround times, and lower uniform costs. With this change, every player in grades 1 - 8 will need to purchase a new uniform for the 2023 season. Everyone must order their uniform by Sunday, January 29, to ensure delivery by the start of the season, the first weekend in April.

We will host a uniform sizing night on Tuesday, January 17th at MSMS from 6:30 - 8:30 pm

The Burlington Youth Lacrosse Association Spring 2023 season registration is now open for boys and girls in grades K-8. 

As a reminder, we need to submit our teams to Mass Youth Lacrosse (MYL) in late January. Please complete your registration early to ensure that we submit the correct number of teams per age group and that you secure your child’s spot on a roster. The $40 early-bird discount ends on January 1, 2023.  

Registration will still be completed online at burlingtonlax.com; however, the registration platform and process are new.  The new registration platform will require you to create a new household account and upload your child’s information.

As stated earlier, the BYLA tuition fees have stayed the same as last year. Historically, you would pay this fee by logging into MYL before registering with BYLA.  However, now the process has been streamlined.

Burlington Youth Lacrosse Association has transitioned to the Demosphere web platform. This new platform will enable us to provide a better website experience, improved registration process, better integration with Mass Youth Lacrosse (formerly MBYLL), an integrated mobile app, and much more. Our legacy platform was retiring and MYL led an effort to find a replacement platform that could support all the towns in the league.

We are excited to begin using this new platform. With any transition, there may be a few bumps along the way. Please bear with us as we get started learning this new platform. Our Fall Ball Lacrosse Clinic registration is now open. Fall Ball provides existing and new BYLA members the opportunity to continue improving their lacrosse skills with instructional drills and competition. Fall Ball will be held on Sundays at MSMS Brush Turf Field on the dates and time below:

• Dates: Sundays 10/2, 10/16, 10/23, 10/30, 11/6, 11/20 (No clinics on 10/9 or 11/13)
• Time: Boys: 11:00 am – 12:00 pm / Girls: 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm
• Location: MSMS Turf
• Ages: Grades 1-8
• Tuition: $35 includes BYLA Fall Ball T-Shirt

We are excited to announce that the online LAX.com BYLA Fall Apparel Store is open!  The store will be available until 11:59 pm Sunday, October 9. Apparel will ship directly to you 5 – 6 weeks after the store closes. This will ensure that the apparel available is delivered to you before the holiday season. 

Please join us at Schoolhouse Ice Cream in Burlington Nov 8th, between 4:00 pm -7:00 pm. A portion of all sales from this event will be donated to BYLA. 

USA Lacrosse is excited to celebrate the sport of lacrosse this fall from Nov. 5-13, 2022. The second annual National Celebrate Lacrosse Week will bring the lacrosse community together virtually and in person to help showcase this special game.

Part of this initiative is to make the sport of lacrosse more welcoming, diverse and inclusive. We welcome all individuals from every walk of life to come and experience a sport that has so much opportunity for all youth.
